The association with GIKI is perhaps one of the most lasting experience that I will have and because of this one single fact I owe a lot to GIKI, as a person and as a member of this society, Four years!! God! It almost seems like yesterday when I came to this place with high hopes and absolutely no idea what life was all about. A shy, innocent little boy with a beard and ready to trust the first person that came my way. Eager to make friends and get good grades, thats what my aim was. But then the shy little boy took a crash course in life. The innocence went away and was replaced by a cold knowledge and awakening about how tough it would be out there. I learnt a lot about people in this place. It’s a cannibal world with cold facts and even colder people. Some lessons were harsh, some were mild but they all went towards making me a better person. Heck, you could get an engineering degree from anywhere but GIKI is more than a mere degree. It’s an experience on it’s own. I have so many memories from this place that at times they overwhelm me with nostalgia. Life at GIKI was a roller coaster ride and I loved every minute of it. 88 people bound for life through a place called TOPI. I love my life. I love everything about my life and I owe it to GIKI for making me realize that life is what you make of it. Topi is a barren place, a desert, dead like a rock but we made it alive because GIKI taught us to make the best of what we have. We made a life in GIKI and it was beautiful. I wish I could return something back and do something good for this institution because it made me the person I am today. And when I open this page ten years from now I will laugh and I will cry for all the times long gone. But above all, I will look upon the life we shared in and the institution called GIKI, with fondness built out of a lasting comradeship, because that’s what it was.
My best memory is the time when we won the Starcraft tournament. We were the best team and I was exhilarated that day. Apart from that, life at GIKI itself is a beautiful memory. When Waqar passed away – that was perhaps the darkest day in the life of GIKIANS and a nightmare for myself, to lose a friend… a dear friend!

Koochie.. koochie.. koo! Knowing you has got to be one of the rightest things I ever did in my life. You have been such a brutally honest friend that I don’t know what I’ll do now that you’re leaving. It is a sin to attempt to discuss you in a couple of lines, but all I can say is that my life would have been darker than a night on the North Pole (and longer too) had you not been there for me on ALL those various occasions. I will miss you like the rain in the time of darkness, and will be praying for success in your life. Hope you have a wonderful life with “HER” and climb the highest mountains in the first go. Take care.
