I got a chance to explore my capabilities, polish them, meet many talented people, not just teachers but students as well. All within an environment where I have learnt a lot. The best thing about GIKI is its environment. So far away from any city, where you have nothing else to do except studying and meeting people. And the people here are all talented and everyone has his own hobbies, likeness etc. So finding out people of your own type is not difficult here. When I came here I was the only person from my hometown. I had no friends then. But with time, I met new people and finally I found the people of my type. And I have learnt a lot from these people. And this is the best thing about GIKI. You don’t ever learn from teachers and studying books, but you learn from people. Staying awake the whole night before papers, preparing for quizzes, doing assignments together, walk around together, “Raaton ki mahfilein”, tea at the cafe and the campus hotel, a burger / chicken sandwich at cafe after lab in the evening, playing games on the hostel net, chatting on local net over Habib’s Netpopup and then IRC, jamming together all night and singing songs; enjoying midnight “khappa”, Uzma’s cake fudge and her sandwiches, listening to mp3s at full volume while bathing, singing in the corridors, noises in the lecture halls before classes, all these things are what we have been doing here, we will all miss them.
