Well, it’s been a looooong time. Made short by the people over here. Before coming here, I had NO idea how were a hundred people supposed to co-exist in a society such as GIKI’s; but we managed to do it gracefully, and I feel proud to be part of it. My experience at GIKI has been EDUCATING, in every possible literal meaning of the word. It has taught me how to LIVE, not merely be. The place; the people; the life; I have tremendously enjoyed it all. At this point in space and time,  what I treasure the most is the fact that all of us are going to have these 4 years in common; the years when we grew from pubescent boys to wannabe men to twenty-something year-olds; the years when we went through ALL the shit together (the assignments; the quizzes; the mids; and the semesterly rape at the examination halls); the years when we left this place to go out in the real world with nothing else but hope and uncertainty in our eyes. Whether I like it or not, I’m bonded in this weird bong; just like everybody else is as well. Cuz unknowingly, we have created a past for ourselves worth remembering; something that will never be forgotten. It was a rush. BIG TIME.

My dear friend Murtaza. What can I write about you in these pages that would do justice to the friendship that we had in these four years. Perhaps writing such trivial passages would be an insult to it all. But I will say this, you taught me such wonderful qualities without which I guess I was nothing. The first ‘friendship’ and the second ‘passion’. You have such wonderful passion in you. Please do try to direct it so that it would do you most good. It is heartbreaking to see such energy go to waste.

I have a strong feeling that one day out of the blue I am gonna find out that Murtaza Saeed has done something (don’t ask me what) absolutely amazing. And I will have to say is ‘well it’s about time’. A true friend. Probably… no definitely the best.

Summer ’97 was the time when we came to know each other. We saw each other in the time of immense transitions and changes and we are still together and I hope will also be in the future. His potentials were never realized at the fullest. Lamps, Winona Ryder, Wallpapers, playlists (do you feel loved) and that ash stained glass, will always remind me of nothing but your blue room.

I cannot explain my relationship with Murtaza in few words. Murtaza is one of the precious things I have got in my life. He made me to change my views and concepts about life. I wish him all the best in life.

Just like the smirnoff advertisement, the world seems a different place if you are in his company. Understanding and compassionate. Though he is never quiet, but his expressions say a lot more than his tongue can utter. U2, posters, jpgs, mp3s, airconditioners… oops sorry room coolers (which looked more like a juke box and rather contributed in heating the room by making it more humid), camels, clock tower, faculty house.

There is a hidden cool paindoo part in Murtaza which is the major reason of our friendship.

All we can do is hope. At this moment, we’ve put in a lot and are still doing so, so let’s hope for the best; that it works out well.
